Chef Rick SimonsEveryone in the kitchen has a nickname and Chef Rick's became "Slick Rick". He embraced the name and now uses it as his company logo. Over seven years ago Rick was working as a chef on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, when Hurricane Katrine "moved" him north to Natchez, Mississippi. After the move he looked at his life and began questioning what he really wanted to do. He knew that he wanted to continue to provide fine cuisine products in the healthiest manner possible. Due to being somewhat of a rebel in the food world, he followed his desire of using totally "organic" ingredients in the meals that he was now preparing, including the spices that he had begun to develop. Chef Rick wanted to create a spice that every chef or cook could use and it would only enhance the taste of the food rather than mask it. Many of the all purposes spices on the market today all taste the same, or are too salty on various dishes. The Red Spice, the first to be created by Chef Rick, changes with each dish to marry with the flavor of the food. From this humble beginning he has created twelve organic spices that are specific to the food being prepared, but are also interchangeable with different dishes as each individuals' taste dictates. This concept has been well-received and keeps him working on new concepts for the health conscious diner. Since the beginning in 2002 with the basic idea of an all-purpose spice, Slick Rick is now looking forward to the future. A restaurant will be opened in the near future called, what else, Rick's, Cafe Natchez and it will feature his recipes, spices, gifts, and great fun. It is his sincere hope that you will enjoy this site and we look forward to hearing from you in the near future.

Mary Ann SimonsMary Ann is co-owner and "Slick Rick's" mom. She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice who secretly yearns to be at the Slick Rick offices all the time. She has three other businesses in addition to this one and is constantly on the go. She would love to tell you her "nickname" but Rick says that she has not been in Rick's kitchen long enough to have earned one. So, when that happens it will be passed along to you! She is the part of the company that handles paperwork, staying legal, dotting i's, and crossing t's. She would love to take credit for the love of food that her son has but deep in her heart she knows that it was someone else. A beautiful woman named "Mama Johnnie". "Mama Johnnie" helped raise Mary Ann's boys. "Johnnie Cat", as Rick called her, would put Rick in the bottom drawer of a stove and cook and talk with him all day. He was stirring a pot before he could talk. Mary Ann has a love of life and enjoyment of friends and family that cannot be matched by anyone. We are all glad that she does what she does so we can do what we do!

B.W. SimonsB.W. is the older brother of "Slick Rick" and at this point Rick says that "you can't put his nick name on the website". Mary Ann is now wondering why? B.W. handles all the shipping and most of the ordering of products. He is a "tech" wizard, and when he is not on the computer at work he is on the computer at home. He enjoys online gaming and building computers that, as we all say, "hover" because they are so powerful. There is no doubt that you will continue to hear more from him as time goes by.
